Independence & trademarks

This website is not endorsed by or affiliated with EA or its licensors.

OpenTS3 is an unofficial community project. It is not developed, sponsored, approved or supported by Electronic Arts or Maxis. The Sims and The Sims 3 are trademarks of Electronic Arts Inc. Other names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

References to The Sims 3 identify the game that OpenTS3 is designed to work with. They do not imply a partnership or endorsement.

Your game remains required

We do not endorse piracy, distribute pirated game files or link to pirated copies.

OpenTS3 requires your own legally acquired, installed copy of The Sims 3. Any packs or paid content you use must also be ones you own and have installed.

The mod reads the game files from your computer. It does not include The Sims 3 or unlock content you do not own.

What OpenTS3 provides

Any future OpenTS3 download will provide the engine mod and its permitted supporting software. EA’s game code and assets will not be included; the original game files stay in your own installation.

The Sims 3 and its content remain the property of their respective rights holders. OpenTS3 does not change the terms that apply to your game or additional content.

Free access & current availability

OpenTS3 will always be free. There will be no purchase price, subscription, paid builds or paid playtest access. The original game and any additional content are separate products that players must acquire themselves.

No public download is currently available. Private playtesting is underway; wider invitations will be announced through the community. OpenTS3 will be open source, but its repository is private during development. There is no announced date for the mod or public source release. The source release will cover OpenTS3’s own code, not EA’s game files.

Before any playtest or release, we will explain what is supported, what still needs work and how to get started. Development footage shows work in progress.

Website privacy

This website does not include advertising, analytics scripts or a mailing list. Its own pages do not set cookies or save preferences in your browser. Embedded videos and the contact form use external services, described below.

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect it. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.

Community links take you to Discord, which operates independently and handles information under its own privacy policy. Messages, attachments and profile information you share there are subject to the server’s rules and Discord’s terms.

Embedded videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player and do not autoplay. Loading or playing a video connects to YouTube, which may process technical and playback information. The player and external YouTube links are covered by Google’s privacy policy.

Contact messages

If you use the contact form, your email address, topic, message and any name you provide are sent through FormSubmit to JJ’s Gmail inbox. JJ uses this information to read and respond to your enquiry.

FormSubmit processes submissions and provides spam protection. Its documentation states that submissions are retained in its archive for 30 days. See FormSubmit’s privacy terms. Messages delivered to Gmail are also handled under Google’s privacy policy; the 30-day archive period does not apply to copies in the email inbox.

Contact messages are not posted publicly or used to add you to a mailing list. To ask about a message you sent or request its deletion from the project’s inbox, contact JJsGamerLab@gmail.com.

If this website adds other data collection, this notice will be updated before those features are introduced.
